It's getting a bit too much,this might be the last year

It feels good to cleanse. But, I can’t talk cause every time I sell 4 or 5 basses, I buy 3 or 4. And the last time I sold a high value bass, I felt justified in buying 5 or 6 old Peaveys and Ibanezes, cause I still had around $1k left over. What I don’t have is room! So, another purge has to happen soon! It’s so hard to pick which ones should go!

Your post hinted at the reason I collect Peavey basses. Incredible value for the money. I have a similarly insane pile of Peavey amps and cabs.

I beg to differ. I have two maple necked T-40s. Both are two piece bi-lam necks with no separate fretboard. You can clearly see the glue line running up the center of the fretboard.

Correct. The Bi-lam maple necks do not have a maple cap/fretboard.

Thanks! So with that said, would it be safe to assume that the rosewood neck T-40 is stronger because they have an extra piece of wood glued across the top of the bilaminate neck vs the maple "fret board"? Or maybe not enough to lose sleep over?

The bi-lam neck is a strong design with or without a rosewood board. The board does very little if anything in my opinion to add strength.

No, not safe to assume. Remember, to keep the neck the same thickness the maple part is thinner on a neck with a separate fretboard.

That might be it. Looks like 34, give or take. That doesn't count the project basses and/or parts from the recent warehouse liquidation. I think I've got seven NOS bodies, and a few other goodies. Oh, an unfinished Cirrus too! That, and a super secret unicorn farm. Details to follow.

What? No Fury? Ha!....my lowly 89 Fury with a Duncan Vintage P pickup is a Fender P bass killer....why these Fury arent more popular with J bass players that need a P sound i will never understand.

Not yet. I saw one of the Fury/P versions in a pawn shop recently. When I went back for it, it was gone. I think I'd probably prefer one of the slanted SF ones.

Ive got both...early one so mint i rarely touch it and it needs new strings but has the P style neck.

My 89 Fury the neck is so worn in and with a P pickup, you have a very wide choice of pickups that drop right in....like i said, a killer P bass with a J neck imo and its not too heavy (though not stupid light like the early Fury)...i could never part with the 89 Fury, it has Fender 9050 flats fwiw.

Ive got both...

I've all 3,can't say I share the TB love for 2nd/3rd gen Furys. Apart from the slim neck,IMO they're a generic P-bass.

Don't mind the 1st gen but I prefer the T20 for some reason,keep both of them within reach. 2nd & 3rd have been in cases last couple of year.

My 40's and the T-20 are maple neck/fretboard combined.

Y'know... before I responded to filler83 I went downstairs to check the T-40 I have on a stand. It has a rosewood fretboard, so I thought maybe I should check my T-40 with the maple board. It was too far back in the closet and I thought "Nah... it's gotta be a maple cap". After I saw these posts I did dig out that maple T-40 and, well... this is a picture of me -

It was an honest mistake. Keeping tabs on 24 Peaveys is a hard task,trust me I know the feeling.
Shot myself with both barrels the other day over Foundation pickups.

Foundation 2000 is not one of my 54.

I think everyone here is willing to let one misrecollection pass....I've read lots n' lots of your posts and you are always full of good accurate information, sometimes little known details, and are willing to give advise to people in other (non Peavey specific) threads who have Peavey questions about price, quality or what is what in Peavey world.

I find the Gen 2 Fury to be great alternate choice to a Fender Precision bass.
IMO the Gen 2 body shape is nicer than a P Bass and the neck feels better than almost any bass.
Love the sound of split P pickups so Gen 2 and 3 Furys can be great.
I will admit to being happily surprised when find one with an after-market pickup in it.

The T20 and 1st Gen Fury basses are different from a Precision in my mind.
The big honkin' SF sounds fantastic to my ears but is it's own category ...like many of the unique Peavey bass designs that are thankfully not straight copies of Fender P's and J's.

So, I'm curious to hear preferences from some of you guys that have lots of Peavey basses.
Do you prefer the sound of a Dyna Bass with SF's ...a Dyna Unity with PJ's ...or a Forum Plus with the active PJ's but no Pre.

Tough call. My first ever brand new bass was a Dyna Unity Koa, so I think I am a little nostalgic about that bass, which is why I currently have three of them. Two koa, one Ltd cherry burst. That said, of the older Peavey stuff, my personal favorite is my black first gen TL-5. Given that, the closest thing to that would be the SF Dyna.

Dyna has a preamp but the Foundation is passive.

That's the quirks in my personality, single coil P-basses are my thing so T20/Fury is closest.

I also veer towards 2nd gen TL-5 over the 1st gen.

The 80's split P Fury's are getting harder to come by at a reasonable price and in colors I'm looking for. Seems every one I see is red.

I played this bass yesterday. It sounds great and the electronics work as they should. It is heavy...these tend to be heavy with the ash body. It has minor scratches all over it but most will buff right out. Really a bargain at $299 with the case.
