I have too many basses. My collection includes a Cirrus 5, 2 Cirrus 6’s, a Foundation 5 and a fretless Foundation 4.

All that and I still want a TL 5 and a GV!

Well... someone could sell the two T-40 pickups for 100 bucks each, making buying some other pickups more affordable. Heck, you could buy two used (maybe new) P or J pickups and have money left over.

Not to mention that the two stock T-40 pickups weigh just shy of two pounds total. Swap the bridge and pickups for a cheap bent plate bridge and p/j set and you’d have a bass that’s about 2.5 pounds lighter.

I’d never do that though! But, I would consider using my old stripped T-40 body and neck for such a thing.

For me it would be using all of the T-40 electronics in another body and possibly neck..i cannot deal with the weight....not sure how the T-40 neck profile compares to say a 1st gen Fury with the P style neck?

I had seen some people who put dark stars in their t-40s, and was just looking for opinions from those who have done it. Didn’t realize I’d get crucified for suggesting that haha.

Use some kind of dirt or boost pedal....btw, what does your T40 weigh?

I'd never do that to you or me, I couldn't get down to three Carvin basses and I only have 4 of those. I am truly in awe and jealous of your Peavey collection.

On the peavey t-40, on the maple neck/fretboards, the neck was one piece correct (no separate maple fretboard) ?

Although I think the neck was two pieces glued together side to side?

The T-40 has a bi-laminate neck. 2 pieces of maple glued together. The fretboard is a maple cap.

I beg to differ. I have two maple necked T-40s. Both are two piece bi-lam necks with no separate fretboard. You can clearly see the glue line running up the center of the fretboard.

My 40's and the T-20 are maple neck/fretboard combined.

You have 24 Peaveys ? You are my hero ! What great taste you have. I used to have about 7 USA Cirrus's but I'm down to 2.

That might be it. Looks like 34, give or take. That doesn't count the project basses and/or parts from the recent warehouse liquidation. I think I've got seven NOS bodies, and a few other goodies. Oh, an unfinished Cirrus too! That, and a super secret unicorn farm. Details to follow.
