U.S. Peavey Club

Congrats! I came REALLY close to buying that bass. Glad I didn’t as it allowed me to buy a vintage Aria SB-R60 here in the classifieds last week.

BTW I’m digging that impromptu nut shim on the A string! I think the $100 the seller offered will easily cover a new nut install. If I were you I’d see what kind of package deal your tech might do for a set up and fret level while he has it. Chances are you’ll be completely blown away with a small investment. My Axcelerator is a KILLER bass as I think most of them are. Easily one of the biggest “bang for the buck” used basses in the market.
Well then thanks for letting me have it ;)

I’m generally my own tech, and I’ve definitely made custom bone nuts before, but maybe a true servicing is in order. Honestly I’ll probably make that call after it’s set up with new strings and the neck shin. I have most of the tools I need for guitar work, but I don’t quite have the stuff to do a full leveling.

Yeah I’m in the same boat. I do the majority of my work but I’ve never messed with frets. I’ve watched tutorials and it doesn’t seem terribly difficult. Seems more like a “feel” thing to nail it. I might one day just buy a couple of those $40 Ebay Chinese necks and go at them as sacrificial learning templates. Not much to lose and a lot to gain.

Ok
So update
Gonna be throwing in an aguilar AG60P with cobalt flats, Seymour pre

And I’m refinishing it ;)

How do p the 5 strings necks on any of the peavey compare to an ibanez sr neck? I'm gonna give 5 a shot and I love my SR necks and the SR 5 neck. But if any of the peaveys are comparable I'd rather look that direction.

Spent some time this week recording with these two basses. DynaFive is very open with plenty of punch and clarity of the Super Ferrites. The Verdine White (Rudy Sarzo) is passive now and those pickups have massive tone with very broad dynamic range but still very sweet and clear. It is my new favorite right now. I feel so blessed to have so many great basses to choose from.
