If you're talking about active/passive inputs on your amp, then the active input is for basses with preamps or hot pickups. You don't have to use it if you have an active bass, it just knocks down the signal strength a bit to your amp to keep it from overloading. If you're playing at low volumes, it really doesn't matter which input you use.
Dyna Bass I just finished setting up as BEAD for a friend. 1987 model he bought new. Had to remove the spring on the B saddle to set intonation. Paint has gold metalflake. Plays like a dream. Posting pic for posterity.
Also cleaned and set up a pawnshop find Cort Artisan 6 string for him. Has Bartolini PUs and pre. Never had my hands on a Cort before and I'm impressed.

I just got off the Peavey website and saw no link for any history whatsoever. I've got an opportunity to pickup a mint Dyna and Foundation bass for next to nothing. Before I clean them, set them up, and post for sale, I was wanting to get some official info on them. Such as the years they were made, specs, and such. I've googled with no success. Anyone have any insight on this?

Peaveys are super consistent... Eras are more important than exact years...
Wikipedia has the year listings.
Please understand they have a huge volume of nuts wanting an exact production date of a piece of gear.. they have a huge issue (that many companies don't have... longevity)
Post a pix and I can ID an era within a few years.
Or Wikipedia.
I belive their low traffic forum "wammy bar and grille" has a basic SN guideline.
I can attest to this. My Peavey Cirrus 6'er has a better set up than my Elrick 5'er that just got a refret. I originally wanted a 6'er because I played a Fodera Imperial 6'er at a guitar show here in town. It played like a dream. It was a 6 string and 35" in scale length, just like the Cirrus basses. Ever since I got my Cirrus, the GAS for the Fodera is gone. It has the tightest and the clearest sounding B string I've ever played. The action is amazingly low and it's super easy to play. The low B is tight and the tension is even across every string, at least it feels that way. I love this bass and I think I'll be keeping it for a long, long time.

I wanted to kind of give some background and maybe get some help. First I'm ashamed to say I've never used wikipedia. I'm sure it's not that complicated.
The way I see things in the market is that these Foundations and Dynas are becoming a commodity and there are folks that are willing to pay for ones that are in good shape. I ran across some folks who needed quick money and were willing to let go of their guitars in the process.
Once I get them and get them cleaned and set up I can take pics of them and get your input? I'd appreciate it and in the mean time any direction you can give me as far as Wikipedia would be appreciated as well. Thanks again.

Good question since usually it's a sticker on the back of the headstock. If someone has taken it off, then how do you know?
