The tuner arrived today and it is a PERFECT fit. It is also in perfect shape.

I would publicly thank my fellow TB'er, but since he contacted me by PM I think it better to respect his privacy. You know who you are. Your generosity is deeply appreciated and this little ol' Foundation will enjoyed for a long time because of it.

I'll do my best to pay if forward when the opportunity occurs.

that rocks. i have loved my foundation since i bought it new way back in 93. it really rocks to see such an underrated line of "budget" basses mature as well as the late 80's to early 90's peaveys have.

in a slightly related note, i finally cut the 18 month old boomers off my foundation yesterday, and restrung it with a set of DR blacks. stepped up from 40's to 45's - and i really dig it. drop D is a lot less clanky. DR's definately feel a lot more like rounds than Elixirs do.

Okay, Peavey fanatics. A new issue has arisen with with the Foundation.

I got the correct truss rod wrench (works perfectly on the Fury,) but it won't reach the nut on the Foundation. Just a bit too deep. The shaft out the side of the wrench sits on the top of the rosewood before the socket reaches the nut


UPDATE*** I went to Sears and bought a 5/16" flex socket. Had some difficulty getting it to fit and then finding a way to turn it...but the good news is that I got! The nut had only a thread or two showing at the top of the rod, so I doubt it had ever been adjusted. Had to squirt a little PB Blaster on it, but then it turned easily.

Still have some fine tuning to do (screwed up the saddle height in my efforts to get it playable last evening) and the intonation is off, but it is playable and it sounds great!

I had purchased some Dean Markley Steels for the Fury just to have some strings on it (they were on closeout...had never played them.) Put them on the Foundation since the strings it came with were pretty gross.

Wow! They really sound great on it. Lots of snarl with the bridge solo's, but reasonable warmth and power with the neck solo'd. Really nice articulation at the bridge with either pickup.

Think I'll keep them on the Foundation, since the original plan was to put flats on the Fury anyway.

fury has a greenish knot in the lower horn ... thought about a trans green stain (like see thru pine green) on it?

would make for a unique fury. oddly enuff, i was going to go for a trans purple on my foundation when i first stripped it ... like looking thru cherry coke at a light (deeeeep purple)

dunno why that just occurred to me now ...

Love that foundation. Regarding the weight, weight of wood is highly variable at times. I remember I brought my Millenium STD to the international GTG, I believe TBer GregC had another sunburst STD, I couldn't believe the difference in weight between the two otherwise identical basses. Both played like a million bucks and sounded fantastic, but one was a lot lighter!

Here's a blonde telecaster on ebay. The finish is translucent so you can see the grain but it is light. The minwax stain is Pastel summer straw. After it dries clearcoat it with nitro and it will continue to yellow with age. I've done one project bass with this and it did come out very cool, but I gave it to a local kid and have no way of getting pictures.

Spent some time setting the string height with the micro-tilt and setting intonation on the Foundation today. Very nice.

Now trying to decide which bass needs to go so I can pay the budget back. The TBC AP500M or the SX Lake Placid Blue fretless with a matching headstock (old headstock). Hard to decide. Both are beautiful basses and I like them both. Likely to play the fretless only on the house, but the TBC sound can be duplicated by the Tribute L2500.
