Disbelieving things they can see and wholeheartedly believing things they can't.
It has only been six decades since man first entered space using chemical rockets. We have not even scraped the bottom of the barrel yet. It is hard to try to imagine where we will be in a 100 years, 1000 years, 10,000 years from now and so on.There are a lot weird stuff in this universe. Maybe we just can’t explain everything in it. Black holes were once just a theory and turned out to be real. And science does’t really know how these things work.

And then pretty much nothing. Yes, we've gotten better at getting things to low earth orbit and keeping them there. We haven't figured out a practical way to get a human to Mars. Hopefully that will happen in my lifetime, but there doesn't seem to be the sustained will to achieve manned interplanetary exploration.
