I’ll take pilots word for it, and say I think it’s real. I’ll also wait for a reasonable explanation.

I see a lot more than a blob. This was taken from a Navy F-18 Hornet pilot which are the cream of the cream when it comes to piloting skills. The images are from the Hornet's onboard IR targeting camera, which tracks the heat signature of the object and inverts the image similar to what you see when you look at an ordinary film negative. Looking at the Hornet's Artificial Horizon below on the processed image, both aircraft are in a high speed 45 degree bank. I can clearly see the silhouette of a kid's top shape type object. The IR camera is also picking up some type of energy being radiated around and near the object. Lots of respect here for the F-18 pilots. Also, the company I work for builds the visual systems for the Navy's F-18 Hornet simulators so I am very familiar with the cockpit and instrumentation of the Hornet.I see a featureless blob.
What I meant was, with the exception of the special outline of the object, there are no visible features. There are no observable details, such as as variations in light or dark, much less color.
It may be that the imaging system of the plane is incapable of showing such details.
@Stewie26 may be able to answer that. I'd be very interested in knowing more about how the IR camera would create the bright area around the object and why that would necessarily represent "energy being radiated".
I’ve been waiting to see what replaced the SR71 since it was officially retired. I’m thinking some kind of unmanned stealth aircraft capable of operating outside earth’s atmosphere that can take off and land on a conventional runway, carrying a full array of high angle imaging technology.Could be little green men. Then again it have originated here on earth. Homo Sp. evolution started around 2 million years ago, and cultural development around 176,000 years. Another intelligent species could have easily evolved before the hominids. Also, there’s a lot ocean out there. Covers 71% of the earths surface. That’s all I got.
The Pentagon UAP Taskforce is going to release a report soon. Should be interesting to see what it says.
One of the things that's puzzling to me is the government's apparent willingness to release this information. It seems to me that if it's your own military tech, then you don't want your adversaries to know anything about it: how fast it moves, how easy / hard it is to detect, etc. And if it's an adversary's military tech, you don't want them to know how much or little you know about it.I’ve been waiting to see what replaced the SR71 since it was officially retired. It’s entirely possible we are chasing our own bogey. The F117 was a UFO for almost a decade before a crash in an uncontrolled area let the cat out of the bag.

Sometimes it’s better to control the narrative. If the secret is about to break anyway, do it first and do it officially with a plausible fiction. It focuses credibility on the official version of the story and allows further release of disinformation from the ultimate authority on the subject at hand. One of the things that's puzzling to me is the government's apparent willingness to release this information. If I had to guess what these are, I would still guess they're not physical objects at all, but some kind of sensor glitch or optical mirage. But I realize that interpretation gets more and more strained as the frequency of the sightings and combination of radar / IR / visual detection increases.
Little green men did not come a gazillion miles in that, its an unidentified something from somewhere on this planet. It begs the question though ...if the govt had close up photos of one of these would they release it for public consumption ? I think not. Sooooooooooo, the mystery continues.
I think it's a calculated step towards disclosure. The many "baby" steps towards "full" is where we are, and where we're heading IMO. Step back and think how to do this over, say, a 20 year time table. All the hollywood movies that have been prepping us...No big shock when you've been primed to accept it....
I for one, welcome our new insect overlords
