UAP/UFO

I think what we are seeing is the expansion of drone technology for the use of intelligence gathering. I think that lots of countries are investing in drones rather than more expensive high altitude manned recon aircraft. Drones are cheap and if they are lost then its no real loss to the folks that launched it.
I too have always wondered how the very religious on this earth would take to an honest understanding that life is out there besides ours...I know a sticky subject..but very interesting. I can see mass riots happening in places.
Rioting takes too much effort. It's much easier just to deny that it's real, and declare any claims (never mind evidence) to the contrary to be "A LIE OF THA DEBBIL!!"
Seems to be SOP with a lot of the "very religious" I've met.

Yep. what has really changed in the last couple of decades is the discovery of Exoplanets. Over 4000 to date with that number doubling every 27 months.

I can imagine three possibilities:
1) Aliens visit this planet and want to get caught.
2) Aliens visit this planet and don’t care if they get caught because they’re too advanced and physics-defying to care what we think.
3) Aliens visit this planet and don’t want to get caught.
We can rule out 1, as if they wanted to get caught they’d clearly provide much stronger evidence.
I think we can also rule out 2, because a common theme of these sightings is that when military cameras start to lock in on the aliens, they fly away and disappear. If they didn’t care if we saw them, it’s likely they would leave some more evidence behind, and not freak out when they’re observed.
As for 3, it’s hard to imagine that a species this advanced would be so incompetent. Intergalactic travel seems a lot harder than avoiding radar and US military pilots. Maybe aliens are flying around all the time, it’s just their lowest IQ pilots that keep getting caught. But you’d think a species that advanced would have a more meritocratic selection process for space missions.
I guess there’s a fourth possibility. Maybe they’re toying with us in the same way we might tease a stray cat. Pick up a few randos from the middle of nowhere, anally probe them, and watch as they become laughing stocks. Perhaps they drop some crumbs here and there, and just see what happens. I’d like to think a civilization that advanced would be a little more mature, and that they’d have enough video games, VR, etc. to entertain themselves, but maybe not.
And a fifth:
It seems that at one point, the Pentagon and its allies saw UFOs as a distraction. Yet they eventually realized that by talking about physics-defying craft as a “national security issue” they could use it to get more military funding, which is what they have always wanted anyway.

I'm actually leaning toward the dimensional hypothesis. A 4 or 5 dimensional object intersecting our 3rd dimensional world would appear unnatural, seem to be capable of breaking physical laws, and as well could "simply disappear" when returning to its dimension.
The best example to help understand this concept involves a sheet of paper and a sphere. The paper is a 2 dimensional plane, the sphere obviously a 3 dimensional object. If a being lived in the 2 dimensional world, any up or down will not exist. Pass the sphere through the paper. The 2 dimensional being would see only a line, the line grows then shrinks, then disappears. We exist in 3 dimensions without the ability to truly grasp what a 4 or higher dimensional space would look like. If this higher dimensional object intersects our dimension we still only see it in 3 dimensions. We dont have the ability to see beyond x,y,z planes.
These are real, physical objects with structure. It might not really be crazy tech, controlled by humans or others. They might be naturally occurring objects that simply bump into our plane. Their higher dimensional nature makes then seem unnatural.

Maybe it's an alien lifeform's version of a drone?
Similar to how the U.S. military can fly drones and annihilate enemies on the other side of the planet from a base in Las Vegas, maybe those on Planet Gleep Glorp Gloop are floating comfortably in their army base, zipping these things around via remote control.

This exchange makes more sense if one realizes that in this scene Hamlet is toying with Polonius, pretending to be insane.

Did you ever sit out side on a clear night with a zillion stars out and wonder that maybe on one of those tiny specs of light way out there, maybe there is some other life form looking up in there sky wondering the same thing you are.
The fact that "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy." is probably quite true. IF there are intelligent species in the universe (there certainly aren't any in this solar system 
) then their desire to travel light years across the void to visit us seems incredibly unlikely, because, a) we have only started to "broadcast" our existence in the last 100 years or so (radio et. al.) and b) so far, we have yet to determine that extra-light speed is possible. Based on those two points alone it is improbable that an intelligent species has detected our signals, determined that we are "interesting", and had the time to travel the 100 odd light years (given that anything further away would have yet to detect our "signals") to visit us. AND, biggest AND an object travelling towards us is likely to be observed as it travels through our solar system.
Of course, if Extra-light speed is possible then all the physics is out the window. Wiki does mention time dilation effects and the physics and mathematics behind FTL speeds.

What these UFO's are or what they are not, I don't know. But I have always been open to the idea that other life exists elsewhere. Can I prove it? No. Can I disprove it? No, so I'm open. So if (again, if) the news came out that all these UFO sightings have been proven to be extraterrestrial it would be of no surprise to me. The greater shock would be if it was proven that our planet was the only one capable of sustaining life and that no other life existed elsewhere in the galaxies.
