These days there are actually pedals/modifiers that you can hook up to that will make your guitar sound like a base. They've gotten pretty good actually, so much so that if I started a band, I'd have a guitarist be the base player. The whole disadvantage of the base is the big strings are harder to play fast, and you don't have that with a guitar-base.

hmmm, if I'm not mistaken, metal was in fact "dead" in the 90's (with the whole grunge thing going on and other ****) but today there are lots of metalbands living off their music.

that guy was a real idiot basically the message was, "if it aint popular then it's not worth your time". And metal has made quite a comeback.

Can you vote your own answer as correct on yahoo? Who would give that guy a thumbs up? The poster at the bottom is almost as bad, informing us that all the bass ever does is keep the beat nowadays, and that otherwise its just like a guitar. And all this from his expert credentials of playing the guitar for two years, and having held a bass a few times.

The worst part is there's another, more acceptable, response that also has one thumb up, and Yahoo! picks the one that can't even spell correctly.

And the only way to thumbs down that answer is to have 250 ask points. They gave me 100 for signing up, and I get 2 for answering a question, so I'll be able to correct this gross injustice... never.

Then I would recommend that people use Firefox. It has a built in spelling checker!
