Ukuleles...

Does anyone know how these contraptions are suppose to be tuned? I got one... and Have it in some sort of tuning... but i cannot figure out any usable chords on it, so maybe i have it tuned wrong?

I have the center 2 strings tuned to the same note, just an octave a part, then the bottom string is a 4th higher than the top string....

help me.

That sorta helps... but I don't have a piano anymore, and my regular tuner wont pick up the ukulele sound... so im stuck in a rut here...

Play the appropriate notes on your bass and tune the ukulele to them by ear.

I usually tune 'em like a bass, and take them with me when I got backpacking.

GCEA if its a CONCERT
A D F# B if soprano
DGBE (non reentrant)
GCEA on tenor (non reentrant)

a good forum thats setup a bit more like TB.

Jerry Moores books are really good if you really want to get into uking. So are Jim Beloffs.

I could go on for days about these things.
