In any case Jule makes an absolutely wonderful preamp. I have been using it exclusively for IEM gigs with my electric. The combination of the Dovecage and a Clarus+ into the little 210AVs wasn't great. A few folks have had success with the M700, power amp that pairs with the dovecage for DB, and it all works great together.
No, I'm not poking fun at you. Just trying to have a little fun with the unusual 'bird cage' look of the Jule. I know they are incredible pre-amps and very highly respected. At my age I try not to take anything too seriously.
Here's the story, I do a regular IEM gig with electric I was using a Reddi. I have a V4b reissue too, it's a bit much to carry around for DB but man those tubes just bring the DB to life. Maybe before you joined, Sadowsky came out with a tube amp and a TBer Uncletoad "Phil", put out a video demo with that amp and his VL208s, it was heaven. In any case the Reddi is cool but it is no help on those gigs where I'm not going to the FOH, so the Jule Monique aka Dovecage is now part of everything I do.
I am using this rig in a blues band with a super loud drummer and two guitars and keyboard. I'm using my Kolstein travel bass on about 30% of the tunes and it sounds fabulous, tight and feedback issues are not a problem.
I'm always glad to hear of another bassists success. Congratulations on putting together a rig that works so well !
When I do play an upright gig with FOH which is rare I use an AMT mic and I bring my little GK to hear myself. I recently had a problem with the AMT I have to send it back for service. I may try using the DI from Monique, but I'm better off when nobody can hear me
In the Rose theatre at Lincoln center they still use an Eden 410XLT and Navigator and run a mic to the house, I've talked to a bunch of the guys including Christine McBride and they rave about that amp and also the SWR blonde xxxx that's in Dizzy's club. The Eden seems to be the popular backline request as well (tube pre). But the overriding thing I hear and see, I get out to see a lot of the A list in NYC when possible,is it's just for them there is always a mic for recording or FOH.

Well, there you go. The latest gizmo doesn't trump long tried and true gear...both of those rigs you mention are around 20 years old. Having owned the SWR Blonde myself, I understand why folks would enjoy it.
I used an Eden WT for many years. It replaced my WW which was underpowered for my needs and kept breaking down. Then I went with a Doubler for portability but also found it had a punchier sound than the Eden which I like. All that being said I mainly use a WMans 12, house amp on my steady gig and I get a usable and decent sound with it. It's no Doubler/ Mas45 but it gets the job done.
I'm jealous. If I could land a 'steady gig' I might be willing to play through a tin can and string (well, maybe not. I'd probably still bring my 26).
Well, maybe you get that steady gig if you play that instrument instead of yours.
Several players in St.Louis love the Low B-1's and compact size because of their extended range. They need a healthy amount of power to drive them.
I used to have one. Great cab. However, now I'm using the AccuGroove Wedgie 112...it's really quite amazing!
I also use the Doubler and an old SWR 2x10 II. The easy of transport and sound quality is why. I also have a glockenklang 2x12 for stage shows that
make it appear that I have a rig, I stack them and I might not even plug it in.

Well you are certianly right about the MAS 4x5 with a Double. It's uncanny how well the cabinet emulates the sound
coming my Mirecourt without amplification. It also brings out the best in any amplifier I pair with it, the Walter Woods Ultra
never sounded better.
