Underrated Basses?

Series 10 baby! This bass was probably only $250 new about 17 years ago but the action is nice and has killer tone. From deep smooth to slap funk, the passive PJ set up makes this a well rounded guitar. The bonus is its a very light bass (lighter than the Aria Pro II and my Fender Strat) and is a brand you never see on the market. If you ever see one in a pawn shop, try it out. It may not be a high end model but it was far more bass then it appeared. They usually trade for around $100 now.

Hands down Bob Frenz, Columbus, Ohio. I've owned many and they are all in the quality of any of the more famous builders, I rank his stuff up with CT and Fodera. He mostly does 6 strings.
If you can find one, you can usually get a steal, I think the most I ever paid for one was $1500.
If I wasn't building my own stuff I'd still have the 4 I bought over the years.

They indeed sound awesome, but I've played 3 of them and they are by far the heaviest - pound-wise - of any bass I've ever played.

Everything that doesn't have a Fender logo on it? I like me some P-bass goodness, but there are other things out there that are just amazing, even though the "vintage" guys would tell you otherwise.

I think every company seems to have at least one or two gems in their line, you only have to look.
