Underrated Basses?

Schecter. I've had my C-5 for 6 years now; haven't had another bass besides it in 5 years. I have no fear of gigging without a backup (even though my guitarist is CONSTANTLY giving me flack for it); this thing is built like a tank! I love it!

That, and any Ibanez that costs over ~$500 new. Btb's in particular.

old gibson basses. im shocked at how many people think these things suck or just dont like them. they look interesting, the sound is unreal for heavy music/rock music, and theyre not made anymore.

id say schecters are next on that list. they dont sound incredible but ive always loved the way they play.

Yup. And many other brands ;)

IMO Cort is trying too hard not to piss their big customers off by selling their basses next to the ones they make for other brands...they have a huge mass producing capacity, and such a poor distribution network...they just don't care enough to promote their stuff because they make too much money working for others...otherwise very good bang for the buck. I tried to hunt a Custom Zebrano myself but it's a bit difficult to find a local dealer other than Thomann around these parts...pfff...

+1 on G&L. I've owned a Tribute and currently own a USA. Fantastic basses!!

Peavey and Carvin have to be in there somewhere. I've also played some Yamahas that sounded awfully dang good.

I think an interesting thread would be OVERrated basses. I've run across LOTS of those.

Yeah there is a lot of Made in Indonesia stuff made in that one factory.

I'll have to hunt a cort down one day. When their Lakeland 55-02 copy is $500 and a skyline 55-02 is $1400 it definately gets the reward for bang for your buck (and they make the lakland in the same factory)

Yamahas are REALLY good and pretty underrated.
BC Rich's are decent. They're good at what they do.
Epiphone. Mainly because they're the "knock off" Gibson they get a bad schtick, but en Epi T-bird that I played was surprisingly better than the Gibson version.
Laguna. PLayed one of their starter basses and it felt GOOD. If I had the money I would have bought it on the spot.

Yes they are made in the same factory but not with the same parts and same engineering. I've owned 2 , a curbow 5 and a elrick 5 and both were decent basses but do not hold a candle to my skyline 44-02. Lakland finishes all the skylines in Chicago from fretwork to electronics and set ups, cort does not put that kind of love I to their axes. For the value the cort curbow is an amazing product gets incredible action after a good set up, very decent b string on the 5 and 6 string models. I changed out the mk1 for a us bartolini and put in an agui pre on my curbow and it had the most affordable dead on modern tone I've ever had.
