Unhappy G&L Tribute L-2000 experience

Yeah. Almost sounds like G&L advised Cort that they were done, and a few that weren’t completely finished shipped out at the end with no one in Fullerton to complete QC inspections.

The whole thing is very sad.

QC or shipping issues. I can't tell. I have other instruments (too many) and don't need to be paying top dollar (or pounds) for something with unclear issues. It might be nothing, but I'm not up for taking that risk.

The shipment that was in transit when G&L made the announcement hasn’t been unpacked and shipped out yet. The guy from Upfront Guitars that has been regularly updating what he knows said that the Tribute QC had really fallen off to the point where he stopped carrying them.

James from the factory has mentioned that they would get pressured to move those out as fast as they could, but still needed to spend about an hour per each to get them right. I suspect they were so stretched then at the end, then a lot of things got let go that shouldn’t have. He also mentioned something that surprised me, that they were buying from Cort’s bottom tier of quality standards. I had sort of assumed that there was a little more care going into it than that.

Wow! If that’s the case, I would love to see Cort’s higher quality basses! I have an L-2000, JB-2, SB-2, LB-100 and a Kiloton…all Tributes. Other than a wonky set of pickups on my LB-100, they have all been excellent basses (at least to my somewhat pedestrian standards).

That was sadly not my experience with the one I got in terms overall quality of parts and QC. Perhaps older ones were better.
