Unknown Trace Elltot

Hi guys, i need help to find which model of Trace Elliot is on the picture, and where can i find schematic, or servis manual.
If somebody has expirience with this model, i want to hear from you.:)

AFAIK, they didn't lose the symbol until series VI, but this does look like a very early model, from what I can see in the pics, it has a GP7 graphic but with knobs instead of sliders, then a gain and volume.

It suggests to me too that it could be a prototype, because a Trace series V "GP7" head (the head was named after the graphic, as it was the only "feature") had exactly that layout, (except the graphic had sliders) with the addition of an effects loop.

Could you get a picture of the back panel?

Also, the casing looks like a different tolex to any Trace I've ever seen before, maybe it's been rehoused?

Early to Mid 80's. Talk to British Audio Service - they offer a CD with all of the schematics going way back.

This one might be right off the radar, though. Hope not. But if anybody knows anything, it'll be them Really good, helpful folks.

I'm not a trace expert.
But i read up on the background before buying mine, i know the head, well the old chief of trace elliott wanted to experiment with knobs rather than sliders, i don't think any went out into mass production, so it may be a prototype. i think he went on to influence Ashdowns.

Or i guess it could be one of the really old traces that no-one really has any idea about.

but good luck on finding information on it.

just to put out a disclaimer, i'm not saying this is rock solid hard evidence, just what i've read and heard.

i cant offer any help, and this may seem like a hijack, but i didnt want to start another thread.

has anyone ever seen a trace combo that was silver/grey instead of green/black? i used to own one. it was a 200w 2x10 combo with a tweeter that had a level control on the rear. it had a 12 band eq and looked like most traces you'd see except for the colour. i've never seen any since and always wondered what made it so unusual. i wish i'd kept it.

Yeah, I've seen that though they are not too common. I have the preamp GP12xv which is silver-faced and the gain indicator lights are big and round and sort of remind me of traffic lights.

I think the Trace in question is a prototype.

I'd have to take them. However, I can say it's exactly the same as this front panel here (without the 1U upper strip).

Yes it's a 12band graphic with red slider for 30hz and has a noise reduction button. No compression.

I'm going to be dramatically cutting down on my preamps so that one may become available.

We have nothing on this one, it's most probably a really early unit (possibly late 70's early 80's), either it did not make production (And you have a prototype) or was a limited period product and no information has survived. No one working here was around back then.
