Unmarked speaker identification

Can someone identify these speakers? They have an assembled by eminence sticker and are in a trickfish bm212. They are 12" 8 ohms. Thanks!

That's a very customized driver, not Eminence's stock basket, looks like either a DeltaLite or KappaLite motor but looks can be deceiving because the top plate looks thicker which would make for a deeper magnetic gap.

If you need a replacement, I recommend contacting Trickfish.

Your original post states they are 8 ohm speakers. What do you want to know about the impedance? In case Trickfish does not reply, an ohmmeter or multimeter can tell you what the combined impedance or each speaker's impedance is. Frequency response curve and/or small Thiele characteristics are best to come from Trickfish, as measuring these numbers involves sophisticated testing that a local tech is unlikely capable of doing.

I am! I just wanted to know the impedance mostly which is why I got in there.

I hope you know that the impedance of the cab will not be the same as the impedance of the individual speaker elements? I guess the cab will have the impedance printed on the back but just to make 100% you don't do something silly and blow up your amp...

Just assembled by eminence. Made in China. 8ohms. Had a code that I couldn't find any meaning to, I think it was 1812-200. And compliant with RoHS.

no 67? 67 is the code for eminence. if 1812 is a date code, that would represent the 12th week of 2018. perhaps 200 is a nominal peak power-handling indicator?

speculation on my part.

Actually, a multi-meter or ohmmeter will not tell you the impedance directly. Those meters will give you the DC resistance, which typically is less than the rated impedance. A nominal 8-0hm speaker will register around 6 ohms on the meter. Some of the confusion can arise from the belief that speaker cab manufacturers simply call up the driver makers and order their standard models off the shelf. In truth, any large scale cab builder will work with the driver makers to get individual drivers which exactly match their requirements. So, just looking in the back of an Ampeg, or Fender or other major builders you will not find the models which are currently available from the market.

In case anyone was following this intently, my response from Trickfish was:
Just note that’s not a stock Basslite basket. Also, stock BassLite 2012 drivers were a USA product, not an Eminence DG product.

it may very well be a custom driver made at Eminence DG, similar to the Basslite 2012.

The Basslite 2012 motor is smaller than the DeltaLite 2512.

The BM series were definitely an early run as the OP’s communication with Trickfish suggests. For anyone else with questions about Trickfish products I recommend reaching out to Ryan at Trickfish. He’s very personable and has always helped me out whenever I’ve had questions about their products (current B1K and TF212V owner).
