Unveiling VIII: Walnut Warmoth Projekt

Same way I became a “tone wood” Believer ( not to say you are completely sold ). I find walnut to be somewhere between alder and ash. It’s a beautiful looking wood and sounds great. If I were going for a standard jazz tone I go with alder as the alder these days is more consistent sounding. I think that ash being harder to get means getting wood that’s not as reliable as far as tone. My warmoth neck that was wenge/ebony really had that Warwick vibe to it and that also made me a tone wood believers as well ( was on a walnut dinky jazz body ).

Thanks, Doc! Sadly, I "broke up the band" a ways back, but it was a fun Projekt to assemble, not to mention an educational one. :) :bookworm:

Aerodynes, as well as most-if-not-all Japanese Fenders, use a Hipshot BT10. The only downside, and it's a minor one, is that Hipshot doesn't make them in smoked chrome, so you won't have an exact finish match. Still, it's not a glaring discrepancy. As far as I'm concerned, it's barely noticeable from the front. Plus, the convenience it delivers more than overcomes any hard feelings I may have about the slight aesthetic mismatch. ;)

Thanks! I was kinda hoping they would be available in other finishes, but yeah, from the front it really doesn't show in your pics, and I'm sure nobody can see that on a stage.

They do come in other finishes (chrome, black and gold), but not in smoked chrome/cosmo black. I probably would've gone for a BT10 in black for the one I pictured earlier, but for some reason Hipshot's black hardware has a matte, satin finish, not a glossy one. For my Projekts, I'd rather have them all be glossy, even if there's a slight difference in color.

Your pictures are pretty convincing. I was thinking about the black, but I get what you're saying. There's going to be a difference in color either way, but from the front it looks unnoticeable.

Cheers, hope you are well and safe!
