I wonder how they're coping on the Gretsch site now that the Lobster was proven correct.

Delivering thundering sound and that silky-smooth 60-cycle hum that Gretsch is known for. 
Sucks that they couldn't even post an apology for mislabeling them for so long.

I actually got a response from Gretsch/Fender Customer Relations. They acknowledged there was a discrepancy and said they are working with the manufacturer to rectify the situation. I don't know if it is right to expand on this, other than they are making some effort to make things right with those who reached out to them.
You mean, they just quietly corrected this longstanding error, without bothering to issue some sort of acknowledgement, mea culpa, or attempt to make things right with the folks who were deceived?

Fantastic! I'm actually impressed by this move. They are smart not to acknowledge anything but make the change silently. 
That's the thing right, the internet sorta validates the notion that where there are low/few consequences, (some?) people will be buttheads...
