Correcting the spec sheet while figuring out what to do with unhappy customers is the correct approach, after all. The first is easily remedied, the latter takes some planning.
Offer a rebate to existing owners, lower the MSRP (note they DIDN'T make that edit to the product page).

I looked at their "Accessories" site in two browsers and I can't figure out how to see the prices. They have some decent looking straps, cases and gig bags though.

I sent an email to Fender a few days ago and just heard back today. They are offering 100 dollars in Gretsch merchandise as an apology. Not sure how I feel about that so I'm thinking it over.
When all is said and done, i am still playing mine and still like it. Am I miffed....a little. I am glad they acknowledge the problem and are trying to fix it. Am i going to complain so I can get $100 in free schwag? ...No, im not because i haven't suffered any adverse consequences beyond mild annoyance/interest, and i dont think they did this intentionally. Also, as a result of this, i read up about how pickups work, looked at some patents, and had interesting discussions. If I ever move beyond bedroom playing and hum becomes an issue, maybe ill upgrade then.
