Upgrading Jackson CB-XV

Hello everyone!
As in title, I want to upgrade my Jackson to have more growl and clarity, because it have a cheap (and I think Chinese) preamp and EMG HZ's. I want to go with 40DC (bridge) + 40CS (neck) + BQS 5 control preamp. What do you guys think about this? Will it sound good? Bass without playing through a amp sounds really good, so only thing that is messing my sound are this cheap pup's and bad preamp.
And one question. When I will in future buy a better bass, could I take pup's from my Jackson and throw them into?

I have no experience with the CS but I swapped bolth my 4 string CMG and my Kellybird V over to EMG DCs and BQC pre's

Can you tell me something about you're Kellybird after and before changing pickups?

I was thinking about going with 40DC (bridge) + 40P5 (neck).

I tried the 40P in the neck and ended up trading it for another DC. The DC's are way more aggressive and modern sounding than the the P/J set.
