Upright approximation - your preferred approach

IME a P with flats can work using the correct technique. An acoustic bass guitar does not work at all imho, too much sustain. I ended up with an NS EUB, the attack, sustain and decay are very similar to a DB, the sound does not approximate a DB, very thump without all the DB overtones. But it fits in a Miata with amp, cab and pre, and it’s bass, so other than you, nobody really notices
