Double Bass Upright Bass Stands

Last night I played two sets at an invitational jam in a long narrow restaurant. The corner spot is perfect for a K & M stand with on eof the arms folded down. I stand right in front of the stand and it's never in the way. During breaks the bass goes on the stand rahter than laying on the floor where people can step on the scroll. The space is very tight in this back corner where we play, a rear entrance providing more chaos with foot traffic. I never go anywhere without a stand for the bass. What works well for one player may not be ideal for another.

I bought the Hercules stand. Extremely well built and cleverly designed. The foam seems very hard and dense but only time will tell how it will hold up. This is easily the most stable stand I've ever used and it holds my Golia bass firmly and securely. I actually prefer this stand to a corner and it beats the hell out of laying my bass on it's side on a gig. It's very light weight considering how durable it is and it folds flat. It's not small but that's why it's stable. You'd have to tackle it to knock the bass out of it.

Sorry if this sounds like an ad but I've hated every bass stand I've ever used and it's a joy to finally find one that's actually useful.

Because of Russell and bassphase's reviews, I now have a Hercules stand. I gotta say I agree with both of them. It's extremely sturdy and stable and I really like being able to keep the endpin extended. It's amazingly light as well. Somebody really put some thought into this one. Great product!

My bass is in the corner! That is the best place for it. My other bass is on a stand at the mo but as soon as I clean up my house it will also be in the corner too! Not the same corner though! :)

Hey Drub! I did not believe you and I did a search on question number 3) that seemed like the most unlikely question. And there it was!!!! Someone did ask that question! [ " some carved basses seem to occasionally have a seem down the back of the bass. Is this an indication that is it not 'fully' carved " ]
you gotta love that! :)

While I use a sturdy stand backed into a corner, gotta agree with PW about not going back through this again. Hey, wojiboji, no offense intended, but how 'bout using the search function first? You may want to also avoid starting new threads on the following topics:

1) What is the best bass for under $2000?
2) What are the best strings for jazz?
3) How can I tell if a bass is carved?
4) What's the best pickup?
5) What's the best amp (should I use a pre-amp)?
6) Do basses really open up? How 'bout ply basses?
7) Do I need to humidify? Are damp-its good?
8) Should I/how do I clean my bass and/or strings and/or fingerboard?
9) How high should my strings be? Do adjusters change the sound?

:)

Indeed. Almost anything about DBs has been asked around here. Some of the "Is it carved?" discussions have also taken place within other threads, like this one. It's fairly important for newbies (and others) to be able to tell. :)
