UPS/USPS lost my bass

Exactly. Baseless accusations are a definitive characteristic of duchiness. I have yet to see why, if someone is scamming UPS or USPS, talking about it on a public forum would be a good idea?
Strange things happen. 10 years ago, I bought a guitar on Ebay that never arrived. Sent via USPS Insured. 30 days later, I got the settlement. 6 months later, same guitar appears again on Ebay... one state over. I contacted the seller and he says he bought in a pawn shop from the state where my original Ebay listing was. The guy freaked when I told him he was in possession of property the USPS had paid a claim on. I check with local post office, and they said if when it was reported lost, no serial number was given, there was nothing they could do. So I bought the guitar again.
Best as I could tell... guitar went from seller, to post office, to pawn shop. So yes, these things really do happen.

It makes no sense at all to come here and make this story up, it is not like forum posts would be considered proof of shipping. You see this here a lot more than other places, some self-appointed arbiter of 'reason' steps in to question the character of the OP and thinks they are providing some kind of public service to the world for taking a contrary position, regardless of how dumb it is....

The funny part is that I thought this exact scenario happened to me 3 weeks ago, shipping a bass to a member here. I bought my Fed-Ex online but they missed the pickup so I dropped it off at a UPS/USPS/FedEx store just like in this thread.
3 days later the tracking number is still not scanned. I realized that the only real proof I had of shipment was my printing the label at home. I assumed they scanned the package upon receipt but they don't, they scan it when the truck picks it up.
I wasn't going to let it walk away and raised hell, I called the store first and they claimed to not see the package anywhere which is unlikely. It was an acoustic bass and in a box the size of a small watercraft.
I was on the phone with Fed-Ex for hours and talked to about 9 different people, at least 4 of whom called the shipping store to inquire about the package. I don't know if it was truly sitting around unnoticed in their shipping room or someone felt the heat of all the calls, but it was scanned and on a Fed-Ex truck about 4 hours later.
These things do happen....

One thing I have to ask, did the box have other labels on it? Perhaps USPS scanned the wrong destination label?
