UPS/USPS lost my bass

Another thread where the OP comes on here to bitch about crappy service, but takes no actual steps to get it resolved. Always makes me wonder about the truthfulness of the OP...
He has hounded the post office and the UPS store manager and is consulting with legal aid...those are actual steps to resolve, aren't they?

Man, tough crowd.

Well, we have been asking the OP some questions so as to clear up some misunderstanding and he has not given us any answers so that we can stop with all the uncertainty surrounding this shipping mishap. ;)

The only question he hasn't answered is whether or not he has actually filed any formal paperwork yet.

Here's a summary of events for the confused:

He took his sold bass to a UPS store to have the bass boxed...they don't do that at the post office.

He then paid UPS store for shipping via USPS. This is not unusual, The UPS store does this all the time.

He obviously got a receipt and tracking number because he discovered that the USPS tracking status indicated that the package had not been received by the USPS facility.

He has indicated that he has been in contact with both the UPS store and the USPS, the UPS store says they handed the package to the carrier, the post office has no record of receiving it (which, by no means, is proof they did not...as stated their tracking system is not reliable).

He has told us he insured the package.

He is consulting with legal aid provided by his employer.

What is left unanswered?

The same thing that everyone is else who does this is up to. For those of us who are in the distribution and shipping business, we see this sort of thing all the time.
I am sorry, I do not know what you are talking about. What about the OP's story indicates he is doing anything other than trying find out what where his package is?

Are you insinuating that he is making a public display of a shipper losing a package that he never actually attempted to ship, in order to rip off his buyer?

What do you mean? That someone is complaining because some butthole in the shipping business lost or stole his bass?

Replace bass with, well, anything, then yes. At my company, a little more than 1/3 of "I didn't get my stuff" complaints have proof of delivery. Although, we do use a better carrier than USPS

I don't doubt the OP's story, but when you hear the same story every day and every other person lies (with proof available within 30 seconds to any person with an internet connection or even a cell phone), it's hard to be sure.

Well, it's not outside the realm of possibility, that's for sure. We had an "undelivered" item, for which we had proof of delivery (worth about $40k) show up on the bay a few years back.

Again, it's hard to know the truth, but "got screwed" is far from the only explanation for these type of situations.

Well this may be true but we are talking about someone that is a long time member of this forum with a good reputation...I doubt he is up to shenanigans.
