All of this 'clock' discussion because I spelled a work in Turkish by mistake and made a comment in comparison about a clock? :hiding:

What, no bass talk?:confused: A wrong note played is a right note if you hold it long enough till the Band or Orchestra catches up to where that note is used.. Not as funny..:( ok.. Back to the clock..:D

I keep coming back to the question, "For what does CMoon1 (or any Upton prospect) want to use the bass?" CMoon1, are you out there?

The answer to that original question varies with the bass' application, IMHO. Perhaps the other question is, "How do the actual basses and service relate to the website's presentation?"

Perhaps he is a rockabilly or strictly pizz player and Upton's products and service are a good match. It just depends...

I think in some ways noobs should be careful about the information given here, and more experienced posters careful in giving it.
There is NO such thing as THE BEST BASS. The best bass for any player is the one that best fits their playing style and price range. I say this as a general guideline. Upton may be the perfect choice, but a noob may lack the knowledge to make an informed choice. Heck, with little or no experience in the DB world, it understandable that someone would say, 'just tell me what to buy'. 'What is the BEST bass for me'. Unfortunately it isn't that easy. The newbie links are a good resource, but I think advising someone on a purchase as significant as a DB is a big responsibility.

I think CMoon1 is just doing a little research on basses / dealers in making a decision on a new bass. I don't think he's asking anyone to tell him what type of bass to buy.

Why doesn't someone send CMoon1 a private message, and a link to this thread, and ask him to respond to this monstrous thread he started?

Let's see, CMoon1 has played the URB for 20 years, he does alot of slap, he's interested in learning to work up the neck into thumb position, Kay basses seem to appeal to him so long as they're good for slap, and his budget is about $3,000.

The Upton instruments are clearly a loving fit for many, many folks. Is an Upton right for prospect X? I could never say, that is the potential buyer's job.

Wow, this is a busy list. Sort of veered off into personal comments, so I stopped watching until I was PM'ed. I appreciate all the help. I didn't realize there were so many DB'ers in the world. I have been lonely a long time (which I don't mind-- I'm anti-social by nature), and I find it a bit jarring to know there are more of me out there.

I sought info on this thread because while I have been playing a long time, I have bought a total of two basses in my life. Now that I can afford to upgrade, I found that there are few basses available in a given location-- maybe one or two in a store here and there. I am in central IL, so you see my problem. Not a lot of chance to comparison shop. So all this info is very helpful.

I also thank whoever put Talk Bass together for the classifieds as well as the forums. I have learned a heck of a lot about basses and the market thereof in just a few weeks.

Sit in a truck for two days in this weather!
That can't be good, could it? Although basses are shipped during winter all the time. How does that work?
Hope it's not a carved bass. Better check it thoroughly before you take it home. At least the weather's not below freezing.

He said they delayed shipping so that it does not sit in a truck for two days.
