Upton Hawkes for sale

This is my winter bass in Florida. It is 5 years old and is 7/8 size. It is in excellent condition and has had no repairs. New bridge set up high but I have the original Upton bridge with adjusters for lower playing style. It is in great shape. This bass has a wonderful tone and has Obligatos on at the present time.

It is not a bluegrass bass. I am looking for a deep huge sound and this one is being drowned out by Engleharts in a field-picking situation. This instrument responds well to a bow and has about the prettiest sound I have heard in a bass. Just not booming loud. Estimated at $3000-4000 value without the active pickup system with volume and tone. I am asking $3,500 OBO with pickup system.

Hybrid would have a solid wood top with the sides and back laminated. Look at the top's edges and see if there are visible laminations. I also don't understand the lack of volume with your bass. The UH I had experience with was loud with a nice full tone, they have a pretty big body. Are you sure it's set up to achieve maximum volume? Higher strings maybe? Different strings? Soundpost position and fit?
