I don't really care what Randi thought of him. He started okay in the criticism, but then went too far in his criticism and after a while just became ugly and bitter. He brought more fans to Geller as a result, I think.

To each their own, Geller was a fake, Randi just kept driving the point home, why? Because you shouldn't lie. Presenting tricks as truth is damaging, He had no powers or abilities other than using mentalism and staged props. If you want to believe otherwise more power to you, life is too short to waste on charlatans like this.

That kind of philosophy can lead to anyone doing any destructive thing they wanted, just because they can justify some facts about it. What an idiot.

Some people like famous skeptics because they say things those people want to hear, regardless of the implications. Regardless of how destructive their philosophy can be. Some apparently even believe that you can justify atrocious actions based on "modern science" and "facts".

First of all, if they can prove that people below average IQ are not as beneficial to society, they could just eliminate them as soon as they turned 18.

They could also do something about the problem of Downes children, possibly even before they leave the womb.

Should I continue?

I asked what atrocious actions famous skeptics are justifying and in what way their philosophies are destructive, and that's you're response? No. Please don't continue. I don't believe you any more. No I'm not pretending. There are plenty of *common* everyday people of all races and backgrounds who agree with me. People with simple faith. Maybe you are imposing something onto what I've said.
...But yes, I've taken it to an extreme example to show how dangerous certain ideas can be.

All this over a hack? Is it any wonder why we can't have nice things. Again, Gellar used mentalism and stage props, full stop. If you believe anything past that, well it's a shame but it's your life. But wow these analogies are waaaaaay out of bounds.

Fine. But I've seen Downes children who are welcomed in places of "delusionally minded" gatherings on Sundays. I doubt they would ever be allowed at any kind of gathering of scientists or philosophers.

You can count me among the proud to be "delusional".

Awfully presumptuous aren't you, folks can go wherever and are generally welcomed. Geeez saying scientist and philosophers don't accept people is pretty petty and judgmental, not delusional. Again this has strayed far from the opening statement.
