USA bass combos ?

And the parts that are made in USA that would get them qualified are made from...raw materials imported from China.

We are a global phenomenon now - get used to it.

Don't shoot the messenger. There is a reason for the legal distinction between the two terms. I'm sure the execs at GK and Ampeg are happy to see people mislabeling their products as Made in USA, but it's unfair to Mesa, Eden, and others. It's also unfair to potential customers who would care about the distinction.

The Heritage B-15 has more USA-made parts in it than any other amp on the market that I know of. Other than a handful of resistors, 3 out of the 6 tubes, and maybe the wires and the wood, there's not much else in it that isn't made in America.

You are correct in reference to the first run of 50. The 2nd run is a complete redesign. I'm curious as to whats in it and where the components are made.

Gallien Krueger and Ampeg Heritage are not Made in USA.

They are "Assembled in USA" which means they don't have enough US made parts in them to qualify for Made in USA status.

:) I don't think there is a single person at GK you could call an "Exec". They just seem like just one big family.

GK seems to be in the midst of moving all production back to the US - for all their products. Not just special fringe cases.

I guess what I have in mind is more of a micro combo at least 100W, and as close to American made as I can find. With a projected limit of 7 to 8 hundred, I know I'm asking a lot.

I do like the G-K sound, even if they are only "assembled" here.

Their micro bass line looks interesting.

I'd need to sell off a TL-5 and a Mark 8 with a 410BX cab before I can do anything, so it looks like craigslist here i come.

At the pipe-dream stage right now...

The only "Exec" is the man that started the company (first called GMT) Robert Gallien. Who still rolls up his sleeves, designs and tests the products with his name on them. All final product production ended at the G-K owned China plant on 12/31/2011.
You are very right in saying they are like one big family there. That is what can happen when an engineer owns and runs things instead of bean counters ;)

.. an Exec who also logs in to TB on occassion and responds to PM's with inquiries ... :)

There are plenty of vintage amps 100% made in the USA, but the problem lies in finding one with the high modern wattage you seek. With a little quick research, I'm certain they're out there. Another benefit of buying American Vintage is that you're most likely buying the amp from the "small guy", the ones hurt by the economy the most. Independent guitar shops, Small Pawn Shop owners or the unemployed downtrodden selling their personal gear on eBay to put food on the table and diapers on their baby.

I do see it said a lot that "XXXX amplifier is made in the USA, from parts made in China". Well kind of like the unwritten rule about posting a picture to join the various bass centered clubs (pic or it didn't happen). I think folks should post pics fo the guts of said amps that they say arent USA built, or are built from chinese parts.
