USB to Midi converters: no need for PC cards?

A quick look at ebay shows a lot of cheap USB to Midi converter cables...

It's been a while since I used MIDI and I was thinking you need a special PC card to speak MIDI...

Do these cables work without a special audio/MIDI card?

Yea they work. Can't vouch for any of the cables in particular but MIDI over USB works fine.

I use a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], and it works just fine. No additional card required.
