I have a chance at buying a bass and an amp from a friend, but I need some ideas on what a fair price would be. I can get them for less than they're worth if I buy before she puts them on Craigslist. I'm a guitar player, so the bass would be just for messing around and I would probably use the amp. They're both in great shape, very lightly used. It's a Squier P Bass and a Marshall MB30. I can't comment on the amp, but you may need to be more specific with the Squier. If she doesn't know the exact model (Affinity, Standard, Classic Vibe, Vintage Modified, etc…
see if you can find out what's written on the headstock, back and front. Also, some pics might help us figure out which model it is. Once that's established, then it's price would be modified by any mods and it's working condition.
For example, a used Affinity P-Bass with no mods and in decent working condition can be gotten from Guitar Center for $100 or so. Classic Vibes (CV's) and Vintage Modified's (VM's) get higher in value.
In short, give us more to go on.

Sorry, I didn't realize that. I'm assuming it's a standard. There's nothing else on the head, just Squier by Fender. It's made in Indonesia, it's a four string, and there's no mods. I remember when she bought the guitar and amp, about 5 years ago, and they've hardly been played since. I'm actually more interested in the amp, I think I could play my guitar through it, but correct me if I'm wrong. I would buy them both if I can get a good deal though.
We're not talking a whole lotta money. Find comps on Ebay that SOLD. Offer 15% less. Thats about what fees and a box to ship would cost..
Well now I'm second guessing if I know what it is.. The tuners aren't inline like the p basses I see online. The headstock is black and says only Squier by Fender in gold script, oriented so you can read it when the bass is hanging vertical, not horizontal like most lettering is. I'm sorry I can't get a picture.. The body is a blue sparkle color, I think the fretboard is black, and the headstock is black in the front but maple in the back if that helps identify it. The tuners aren't clover shaped, like Fender basses I've seen, but like rounded triangles. Thank you for the replies!
Well that will probably change the price I guess..
MB4s retail new for about $230. I'd offer $125. I'd offer less if it has that silly skull and crossbones on it.
