I think the fastest fingers were actually on the person who acquired that bass before selling it to you :).

Congrats! I don't think there's a bass player on this forum that wouldn't have jumped all over that.

And hey, yeah... a little over 10 years ago I sold a 76 P for $200. Don't ask me why. I don't know. I thought there was something wrong with it. People do silly things sometimes.

My first Warwick bass...bought it brand new in a blow-out sale here in VB. IIRC, I paid $569. Never could find a serial #. Story has it that it was one of the two demo basses (...the other was blue) belonging to Dana B. Goods. Runs nose-to-nose with the wenge Streamer for the most comfortable Warwick necks IMO. Great purchase!

Clarification: this is probably not the same bass but you never can tell. Sold mine to Kristian in Iceland.

Nice...

This one has EMGs on it and it is instead a tone knob where the stacked treble/bass knobs suppose to be..

I didn't ask much during purchase, here in singapore. Overwhelmed with joy with a dolphin in my hand.

I only do more online checkings about specs and such of this model after the purchase!

Still can't figure out about the knobs and pick ups on mine...my guess will be it's a mod..

Still very excited, played at a jam bar and it's my workhorse for sure...after the jam bar, tried it with my booster pedal, sweet...

And yes...no serial number, i read that these are the ones without...maybe made in japan or in germany but by warwick's subcontractors

Congrats man, nice score! These are great. I had one and kinda regret letting it go but I had a chance to trade it towards a vintage Wal Pro so I took it.

Anyway, fantastic axe. Made in Japan believe it or not and just a funky fun bass to play. Enjoy it!

Jeez. That was probably 3 large new. What a deal

These are the MIJ Dolphins. All passive. I don't know if German Dolphins are passive or active.

These weren't anywhere near $3k new. There were a couple on the Craigslist local here for $600 and they sat for months unsold.

Either way, $300 is a steal !

Mine was active...don't know the country of origin. Never heard of a passive MIJ Dolphin II, though. I'm betting the OP's is sporting aftermarket EMG's / harness.

It has it's i think stock 9v compartment, just the pick ups are EMGs

IIRC, the control cavity cover is not flush / counter-sunk. Refresh my memory: is there a separate 9v compartment or does everything reside within the control cavity? If she's fully passive, you may want consider adding an EMG BTC (stacked knob) preamp. They're relatively inexpensive...think I paid $55 for my last one NIB.

It's a separate compartment.
Noted about the BTC, i'll play with it more and assess, currently using my booster for slightly more lows
