probably too late to jump on this thread, but I just bought a px5d and can't seem to get Sonar 7 Home Studio to recognize it as a valid input source.....wondering if you could share some insight as to how you have yours set up.

I've got Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my notebook and have had great results with my interfaces. I'm using a Presonus Audiobox and a TASCAM US1800.

The TASCAM shipped with a driver on the disc that worked well. I reformatted and noticed a new driver. I've been running that for about a week now without trouble, as well.

I've been using the Reaper 4.0 pre-release software and, aside from a few VSTs causing some crashing, my recording setup has been very stable. I'm probably going to uninstall Reaper 4 and go back to the last stable release once my buddy and I get time to re-record some of our tracks.

M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro > Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 I have had no problems. USB and little to no latency.

latency is high, but that doesn't matter as I am never live monitoring anyways.

2 RME Fireface 800s. I get lower latencies on my Windows 7 Desktop than the Macbook Pro I use for live recordings. No crashes after getting a dedicated TI firewire card.

Mixer rca into Behringer UCA202 rca out to usb Laptop W7 64 bit. No drivers, straight into Audacity or DAW.

Mackie Onyx > Sonar X1 - works great. Loving 7.

So far, all my plugins work too: Waves Platinum 7 (upgrading to 8 any minute now) NI Komplete, Izotope stuff, etc.

Guitar rig and the other NI plugins have only 2ms of latency, which is practically invisible. Helps that the machine has a killer processor (and 8GB of RAM).

What PC you buying?
Newer built in audio is HD quality at least 44k, 24bit, It's much better than you think.
They all seem to have 5x1 or 7x1 out, and 4 to 5 inputs.
Asio4All drivers and adapters and you're set.

Echo Layla 24/96 --> Sonar X1. Only hiccup is that the Echo's MIDI interface doesn't want to work with Win7, so I have to plug my older keyboards into a Roland PCR-30 to get them to work. Other than that, I'm happy with it.

I also work on a different Win7 computer, with a Delta 44 --> Sonar X1. Also works great.

I'm using both m-powered pro tools and Reaper. I think Reaper has a better qualities for just about everything. I really only use protools for demos and midi. I still haven't got my head around the midi map/editor on Reaper yet

Using a Lexicon Omega to record 4 simultaneous tracks on a netbook with Windows 7 32 bits. Works quite well. Not doing anything professional though, just recording for fun.
