Using a 110 cab for a small club blues jam??

So I wandered into GC today and they had a DNA DNS110 used for $340.

Never heard of them so I grabbed a Markbass head and a jazz bass and checked it out.

It sounded huge!! At first I thought it was a 210 based on what I was hearing. Figured it was like those Orange cabs with one speaker facing front, and another hidden inside, facing I don't know where. So I was really considering grabbing it, until I saw the model # on the tag and concluded it was only a 110.

4 ohms, and, based on the backplate, capable of 1,400 W (that seems absurd).

Anyway - I left without it, but might go back. I have a few odds and ends lying around I could bring to them, figuring I could leave there with it for about $100 out of pocket.

My question to any and all who know this cab (or have related experience) -

Can a 110 handle a blues jam at a small club?? Almost always 2 gtrs, bass, drums, vox, and the occasional sax. They are very conscious of volume, but it does get rocking from time to time.

Am I asking for trouble?

I was asked to fill in for the house bass player this Thurs, so I'll be supplying the rig. Amp would be my GB Neopak 3.5. Could this little cab deal?? Sure sounded that way in GC today. Or would I be better off bringing my very mediocre Carvin RL210?

OK cab. That power rating is a joke. It's entirely possible it would work for you, but for me, a 10" cab means nothing larger than a living room jam or no drums. Portability is a wonderful thing, and carrying unnecessary weight is a fool's errand IMHO, but not having enough volume will turn a joyful jam into an irritating, frustrating way to spend time.

Seems like it can handle a low B...may be under powered for a blues jam, especially with the configuration you mentioned. I have been to a local jam, where the host brought a DNS 115 and it kept with everything on stage so that might fit the requirements better.

I don't know the DNS cab. I know that my MAS 109 (110 cab) can handle bar gigs with a full rock band with ease. But those are pretty special cabs.

I have a 110 120 watt Hartke kickback. One of the older ones made in the USA. It has a very nice full range tone but, I don't think it could hang with the gig you are describing. I know that it is not the rig you are describing but it is similar. 1x15 would be a safe bet.

I've been using my Carvin MB10 (1x10" 200 watts @ 8 ohms) and it kicks butt! I am part of the house band at an open jam locally, and that's what I use; also have brought it to a larger room, and it holds it's own as well! Mind you, I also have the Carvin 210 expansion cab if I need to go louder!

Heh, I'd like to see someone put 700 watts into that cab.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Seems 9/10 are saying "not gonna cut it", which is more or less what I figured. Of course, the couple of "it might work" and "should be no problem" responses have caused the GAS to linger.

If it were a 210, or 112, it'd be a no brainer. Wish I could remember what the other guys have been bringing. I know one was a 115. Another time I know I plugged into a GB Shuttle of some sort, but don't know what was under it.

Of course, with a 4 ohm load, I could pair it with my RL210 (also 4 ohm), but I suspect most would say that's a bad call too, right?

If you connect 2 x 4 ohm cabs in parallel (which is the standard way), that presents a 2 ohm load to the amp - which could lead to letting the smoke out, or more likely the amp going into protection mode and shutting down.
Also there's the whole sonic crap shoot of mixing 2 different cabs...
