Using a Capo??

For starters, welcome to TalkBass!
Secondly, you can always just select instant email notification from either "My TalkBass", or at the bottom of a thread/reply to be instantly notified via email when changes to a thread you are interested in take place, regardless of whether you are the Original Poster or not.
As to the actual question, I do not know of any bassists that use a capo, but I am sure you could use one if you wanted to. I'm not sure how beneficial it would be unless you are playing bass chords that include an open string that requires a different tuning, or are playing off of sheets or chord charts that are written for a specific capo position (for example, the charts are written for Capo 2 position, but are written as E, A, B, C# which would really be F#, B, C#, E. I've been there, but it's not too difficult to transpose in my head after getting used to it.). The only question would be, what exactly would be the benefit of using a capo on bass for you, and would you want to use it?

I've used one for a song with a long section of overdriven chords on the tenth fret.
Also if I'm noodling with a octaver I might put a capo on the fifth fret so I can emulate ADGC tuning.

theres a photo of paul mccartney using one in one of the later beatles recording sessions (sgt peppers sessions i think).

I use a capo made for a 12-String Guitar (Shubb) once in a while.

I do occasionally just to keep from needing basses in all the 'standard tunings' in lower keys on my lo B 5 string.

Use one frequently on my 8 string so I can get certain open notes while playing high up the neck. It's just a tool, slap one on if you think it'll be useful to you and don't worry what anyone else thinks.

Occasionally, but just to mess around. I've used the Helping Hand capo to just capo one or two strings.
I've used a capo before in my old country band. I would downtune to D standard and capo up on a few tunes just to get the right open strings. I could have played them without it, but I was lazy.
I use one occasionally. Often easier then learning a new fingering for a song we decided to do in a different key. As said above, it's just a tool. If it helps you or makes things easier, use it.
