using dirt in live situations

The VTBass is my basic sound (into a SA200 amp, with clean setting, I reckon).
I have used the BB preamp in a parallel loop as well for a few years, thinking that would be the optimal solution.

But lately the BB sounded too buzzy to my ears.
So I've experimented with the Xotic Bass RC as well. And surprisingly the RC (not in a parallel loop!!!) into the VT gives me the grindy (not buzzy/fuzzy at all) overdrive.

The same is true when I am playing through my Markbass SA450.

Cab is an Aguilar db212.

Yeah, I think I should give me VT Bass another chance, maybe I can give the Markbass a little more edge that way...

Anyway, thanks for all the input, guys! I've really got some stuff to look into. I'm just a little afraid that it's really my overall amp/cab that's just not "rocking" enough. :(
