using generics for caps, diodes, etc...

Ive got a local electronics store in my town hat only sells NTE parts. They are a good place to get IC sockets, LEDs, & switches but I didn't know if they would be okay for diodes & things that have well known names, LM308Ns or 1N34As. Anybody ever use any parts like this on their pedals?

I looked the company up & they say all their parts have the same "or better" specs. I'm wondering if the slew rate, clipping point, or whatever else may be just different enough to be considered wrong or not as good to us music nerds.

Your best bet would be to build two units: one with your local place's parts and the other with parts from an online place like mouser, jameco, small bear, pedal parts plus, or mammoth.

I would say that it's fine...generally parts are parts! Germanium transistors are the only thing I found with big variances.
