Using Head phones as a moniter

And to protect from ear damage

does any one know how to it up?

The same way paul gilbert does it?

I know he uses a Sennheiser wireless system and isolation Extreme EX-29 head phones but how do you set it up?

I want to hear every thing but mainly me,throw the headphones, so my bass is playing out too the crowd and threw my head phones like the rest of the band

the main reason i use head phones/want to is i was in a helicopter crash aged 8 and since i've had tinnitus plus headphones are comfy and i think look cool

I used to play at a church that had headphones. They had a little Axiom mixer that you could mix your levels for each individual thing. I'd rather be shot in the face than have to use headphones as a monitor. The church where I play now has those, but they are optional, as we have live amps. The other church went direct in. Headphones, IMO, take a lot of the feel out of it.

There's no single correct way to set it up. There are several ways you can do it, and they all depend on what exactly you want coming through the headphones.

The simplest setup is to have just your bass coming through the IEM. All you'd have to do there is run an instrument cable from the "send" on your amp to the input of the IEM unit.

That'll give you somewhere to start. If it turns out you need vocals, an band mix, or anything else in the IEM, things get a little more complicated. But if you give us an idea of what your needs are, the solutions will be easier to write up .

Quite sincerely.. get a longer chord.. run it up your pant leg etc..

I have a setup that combines the instrument and headphones.. in one thin cord.. never an issue.

Wireless.. you just jumped to the big cost realm... it gets much more complicated than a little mikestand box.

Sometimes you can find a PM350 for a bargain.. it's the prior release.

Not sure if this helps, in our band me, bass player, and our lead singer use in-ears. We also have 2 Aviom mixers and the AN-16i. For my in-ears the FOH sends me my monitor mix from the board line level. I let my sound guy mix my monitor. I also run wireless for my bass to my amp, so I am totally wireless. I love the in-ears.

My band mates use the aviom, and mix there own monitors. My drummer uses haedphones that he plugs directly into he Aviom mixer.

I did this for a while before I went to earplugs. I switched because I was running the headphones at to loud a volume.

But here is how I did it.

1) Shure wireless monitor with feed from mixer to Shure and then my bass DI out to Shure. You control each inputs volume for your own mix. I used PSM 600, but PSM 200 is cheaper and will also work. I used the 600 because it has 4 inputs and I ran the mix from the drums to the 600 before it went to the main mixer. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

2) For headphones I used Ultraphones which I consider the best. They have the most isolation with the most comfort. I tried them all and I found the Ultras to be the best for me. Here's the link...http://www.gk-music.com/gordy-knudtson.htm

It wasn't cheap but it was first class and it was amazing. As I said I went to earplugs because I was still turning the volume up and was still doing damage to my ears.
