Vasectomy

1) Don't listen to anyone who gives you crap about it or gives you horror stories. They're only trying to scare you.
2) The anticipation is 100 times worse than the actual procedure.
3) Get it done on a Friday if possible, then spend the weekend icing down your rocks if you need it.
4) If you smell something burning during the procedure, don't worry it's just you.
5) You may experience a dull ache "down there" for some time after the procedure. Mine lasted a couple weeks but still didn't interfere with life activities.
Bottom line: schedule the vasectomy, go to the appointment, grit your teeth, get it over with, and never worry about having more kids again!
My experience has been the same as your dad's. The difference isn't significant, but I did notice an increase in intensity.

I agree with all of this as well. The discomfort, other than the initial injection for numbing, was minimal. Just a vague having-been-kicked feeling for about a week. I will say though, that since I was laying back on the couch following the procedure, my Wife put me to work tying a quilt she had made. So, to my friends I say, "Don't do it! You get your tubes clipped, and end up quilting!"
well I don't want to have any more kids and was considering one, this thread has me going the other direction.
All this info has been really helpful. I'm turning 40 this summer, and me and the wife decided a long time ago that we didn't want children. I've been on the fence for awhile about getting a vasectomy, but it sounds like it really isn't that big of a deal pain-wise.
I had one done about 9 years ago, after my daughter was born. She was our second, and after talking about it I decided it was the easiest and most common sense thing to where we were happy with just the two kids.
I had very little apprehension going in, no real concerns. The doctor was cool, suggested I wait a couple months until snowmobiling season was over so I could fully enjoy it. A few weeks later, went in, shaved ballbag and all, and they did the procedure.
I have never been one who responded well to anesthetics and such. Long story. Anyway, a couple novocaine shots right in the sack and he tells me I'm good to go. Taps me with this little metal spike and I tell him I can feel it. He says no way, not with that amount he's given me. So he takes out the scissors and.........snip.......
Pain. Ouch. I felt all of it. He's amazed and gives me another shot right into the incision. It does start to numb up and he finishes the procedure, mostly I felt some tugging and discomfort in my lower stomach, not really a lot of pain. Sewed up 10 minutes later and off I go.
By that night I had a fair amount of pain. Ice helped. At one point I stood up quickly and tried to make it to the toilet because I had to pee, and almost blacked out. You know how people talk about "wow, you went totally white!"? Well, I got to see what that looks like in the mirror.
Day 2 was not too bad. Day 3 happened to be Mother's Day, we had company over and I felt decent. I was back to work on Monday, just feeling a little tender, that's all. No heavy lifting for a week or two.
As far as things like orgasms, sex drive, etc. I didn't find any decrease in my ability to perform or anything. Also didn't see any increase, either. However, for the first six months or so after I had the procedure, I would occasionally get some slight ache/discomfort during an ejaculation, but over time it went away. No issues now, and not for many years.

I've decided I'm definitely getting one. I'm going to do it in April when I have two weeks off of work. While doing research for getting one done in Bangkok, I ran across this:

I've been there several times for dinner but didn't realize they offered free vasectomies afterwards. I do know an abortion clinic operates next door, too (so a friend told me).

I had it done 16 years ago. No pain, the anesthetic needle in the jewels was the only thing that was somewhat unsettling. I was at a party drinking that night with a bag of frozen peas in my pants.
It has absolutely no effect on virility or semen production.
This part is very important. Find a surgeon who is a board certified urologist. I had a neighbor who had it done by a general surgeon. One year later he and his wife "celebrated" the birth of their fifth child.
Don't be that guy.
You have to have your sperm tested for several months after the operation. That can be a little strange.
