Versatone pan o flex copies.... Are they there?

The Versatone combo, as used by Jack Cassidy and Carol Kaye was a special amp. But only a few were built.

Were there any replicas built? I wonder. Because it's sort of sad to see that knowledge go down the drain...

There was a Panoflex amp chassis for sale in the TB classifieds that I almost bought late last year. He might still have it.

To my knowledge, no one makes reproductions of these amps.

What knowledge? Aside from being an early pioneer of bi-amps the Versatone was a pretty generic tube amp.

I believe you. But it has it's place in history. And when players like mentioned believe in it it brings something to the table not found elsewhere...

I now have a Schaller KV40 with a tube ecf83 wich gives a softer distortion wich WORK for you (if it's the sound you're after) and I cannot get "that sound" in any other way..

So you say it's a generic tube design.. Ok... I believe you. But I'd love to test one.. But I have never seen one on this side of the pond (europe). I do not believe any of those amps has swum to us..

I was just thinking about this recently. I'd love to get a little combo like this to use in lower-key settings when accompanying acoustic playing. I'd definitely be interested in a clone of one. Could I get those schematics from you as well, Paul?

Using a simple tube pre and Dynaco ST 70 bridged mono and cranked into a single low watt Jenson style speaker will get you the same kind of overdrive....won't it? Or any tube old stereo that has bridging to mono capability.......I used to practice through a Harmon Kardon stereo with 7591's and get that kind of flower power overdrive for giggles.....

BTW, as far as copies go, I know that some of the old Guild amps had the same design as the Versatone.
