Double Bass Vibrato

Thanks Square Bear, it is reassuring to know that keeping the thumb behind the note being played is a good and proven approach before I invest many hours of practice time doing so.

I think your vibrato should work whether or not your thumb is in contact with the back of the neck and in thumb position your thumb won't be behind the not you are playing. If you play Ab, A, Bb on the G string, why would you move your thumb around?
