I think this bassist should have been better compared with Sheehan . I am sure Billy could play it. Victor could also play it and could probably play it on an upright

i remember, way back when i was in high school, my mom put in a cd of some funk band while in the car, and hearing some great walking bass stuff. i looked in the liner notes and saw that it was victor wooten, and i realized that his playing is much, much more than just the (suitably impressive-slash-godlike) technical stuff that i dug with the flecktones and the solo cd's. victor wooten is just an amazing all around musician and a total credit to our instrument.

IMO this guy is horrible. There are so many guys at the top and for all different reasons, this guys is somewhere towards the bottom. You can't tell me he can hang with the likes of James, Jaco, Felix, Pino, Stanley, Marcus etc...Victor can.

To be honest I watched it again. Im going to guess that this dude is actually a guitarist that has either converted to bass or just plays one in this band. I could easily picture him shredding on an Ibanez RG. It just seems odd to me that somebody could have decent chops like that without having any concept of actually playing a bass.

yeah, he flails his fingers all over ... a better player (such as vic) could play the same notes with much less movement. probably wouldn't look as cool and impressive, though ...
Really pretentious wanker-style bass playing. Too much Yngwe Malmsteen. All notes, no tone, no musicality and the waiting for the applause thing just makes me cringe.
Theres many ways to define Wooten but technician isn't one of them IMO. He's invented new ways to pick and strum to get the sounds he wants. Thats kind of the opposite of a technician. A technician starts from theory, Victor Wooten starts from sound.
