Victor Wooten & Prog Metal

Hey guys,

My name is Hovak and i'm the founder of Octavision. I write and produce all the music. If you have any questions regarding the band, feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Hovak,
Thanks for coming on Talkbass to talk with us.
Could you tell us a little about how this band came into existence? When are you planning on touring?

The first thing we need to do is to finish the album. We are not signed, so I'm paying for everything out of my own pocket. We just finished the first track, audio and video, and soon we're gonna start a fundraising campaign for the rest of the album. We'll think about live shows and touring after we finish the album.

You must be a pretty humble guy...most people paying for a project insist on having their name first on their Facebook page, but you're 4th.

:D

Cool...I enjoyed the little teaser video you put up on Facebook. Vic sounds pretty metal. I expected more fuzztone but his sound is heavy for what sounds to me like a pretty clean bass tone. Good stuff. Hope it works out for you!

You know this doesn't really surprise me at all. From the interviews/lessons that I've seen with Victor he seems like on of the musically open minded people out there. It really seems like he cares less about "Genre" and more about "Music". Lately that has been in my mind that not really to compare myself to him but I really love music with great basslines be it Jazz, FUnk, Reggae, Latin, Metal, Punk, I've even heard some killer bass licks in country music.

Apparently Victor was just a hired gun for that one track:

Octavision: Please Read!
Although I enjoyed playing on this song, please know that Octavision is not my band. Octavision is not a band at all. We were all hired by Hovak Alaverdyan (the guitarist and composer) to play on one song. I love the song; I love the writing; and I loved the challenge of playing on it, but I don't want to be misrepresented only to help promote it. I love Hovak Alaverdyanand his family. We are longtime friends. He's an amazing guitarist, and I'm sure the rest of his music (once completed) will be just as amazing. But I don't know who the other musicians will be.

I'll be busy recording, touring, and promoting my next project which will be a trio featuring Dennis Chambers on drums and Bob Franceschini on Sax. We'll be touring in Europe this November starting in Milan on November 1 & 2. We'll release the record and tour throughout the U.S. in 2017. Check outLink Removed for tour dates and more.
Peace, Vic
