Victor Wooten & Prog Metal

Post is old - somehow I missed this last year. I rather enjoyed it. I listen to a wide variety of music and prog-metal is a nice diversion. Not typical for Vic and like others have said, it would have been nice to see some more dynamics in the arrangement. Bass is often the instrument that is not apparent until its gone. Its what we do.

I remember seeing a video interview with Victor some time ago where he commented that once in a while he gets hired to play a standard bass track with no spotlight sections; and he rather enjoys it.
He's a professional and if that's what was called for, then that's what he played. I'd like to hear the rest of the album if it ever materializes.

There was news a while back that Vic might join up with the wankers from the former hair band Nitro. I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but it is something.
I love the idea of Vic dipping his toes in some heavy stuff outside his normal genres. I wish he would do something with some more teeth, but he's a pretty positive, laid back guy. I isn't doing to do something super dark.

That's because the guy who hired him went around saying Vic was a member of his band and made it all about Vic in order to get publicity.

I thought Vic absolutely killed it on that track he did with that metal guy that KBD mentioned. He could easily hang in a metal environment if he wanted.

No doubt. The man has more chops than a axe factory. I have the feeling the projects he would pick would be a little more upbeat than my usual fare. I don't think there is an angry bone in his body.
