I love amps. I would dearly love either a new V4B or a vintage one. Unfortunately there’s no way I can justify buying any amps at all these days as we’re using all IEMs, and my Darkglass head is mostly being used as a DI. I mean, I don’t regret using IEMs, my monitor mix is the best I’ve ever had in 40 years, but man I do fantasize about owning a barn on about 10 acres so I could go buy a big old 810, a drum kit, and start building a stage.
FWIW, I sold my V4B for lack of clean power with some cabinets and bought an SVT-CL. Had both for a period of time. Also thought the V4B sounded a bit sweeter and was my favorite of the two for lower volume work.
These days the SVT stays home and either a SWR or GK MBF800 with outboard EQ goes to the gig.
I just can't justify carrying a 85 lb. head to a club with horrible acoustics as I get older but it is The King.
