I’m trying to record really simple loops with guitar or keys and drums into audacity to loop for practice. I have a USB mic for the acoustic guitar and/ or keys but no drums. Vintage drum elements v2 Loo is good enough (and easy enough to use) but it seems to be a plug-in. Will that work with Audacity? I can’t find anything online to say either way. The installation note says add the .dll file to the DAW VST folder but I can’t find one in Audacity. Does Audacity not accept plugins? As you can tell, I’m a complete novice when it comes to digital recording. I’m on Win 8.1 for info.

The Audacity manual says it can accept VST effects but not VST instruments.
I have no experience with the drum package you’re looking to use, but I’d bet it’s a VST instrument.

I’d bet you are right. At least I only paid $2 for it! I guess U need a new DAW or a new drum effect.
