Its got some wear but I dig it. Apparently all original including the natural finish, the case however is not. I have seen refinished mid 70s p basses with asking prices of $1500+ , is it safe to say this is worth at least $1500 ? if there are no issues like a broken truss, warped neck etc of course.I am just trying to see if I got a good deal, I paid 1330$. Oh its also under 8 pounds!

Just because it is old doesn't mean it is good. As long as you did your homework all is good. I had a couple of these basses and they were junk. I called up Fender at the time and spoke to Mr Riveria who told me a lot of the stuff leaving the factory was junk. I think he was having a bad day but still. enjoy because I bet yours is great.

Yeah I was pretty specific about what bass I was going to get........I didnt want a boat anchor, this one is sub 8 pounds. I have owned around 100 fenders and the quality varies bass to bass a lot regardless of decade of production.

Plus it sounds like if I really dont dig the thing I can get my money back pretty easy.

I was actually looking at a Nash earlier but it was a bit more and I couldnt play it prior to purchase, it was a nice looking bass though.

Woow! That is just one hot piece of (b)ass... I can only imagine how great it sounds. I have a '78 Fender Precision that a friend of mine bought at a police auction some years ago for 100 bucks, mind you that here in Denmark a new MIA Fender Jazz will set you back around 2000 $. It sounds amazing and I have it strung with NOS Fender 9050 flats, the older formula before Fender changed it, and it just gives me eargasm when I play it!

Nice bass, you did well. Play and enjoy it :) 1976-1979 are some of the worst years not that all years can't have a bad examples in them. I have a '73 Black and Maple P and a '75 Walnut fretless P both are killer basses.
