Yeah I saw that, i think you did pretty good........I wanted his ray to but couldnt afford both basses.
Same here! I wanted both but came to my senses and singled out the Ray.

I paid $2000 for my all original '74 P 5-6 years ago.
The market is soft, but what you paid is still a good deal. It is likely still worth $1600-1800 in this economy.
Congrats on the new bass, now you can finally have an excuse to put that Ric back in its case.
You won't be needing it any longer
I've been snooping around in the 70's basses lately online and gotta agree, you did well.
At worst you should have no problem selling it, shipping it and still walking away with a little pocket change. That's a good deal anyway you look at it.
Personally, I think you ought-a use this as a stepping stone to venture further back into the vintage world, one decade at a time.
This would put your next move at a 64 P or J.
Take advantage of a nice refin for dirt cheap, seems like there may very well be no better time than now.
If you decide to keep it, which you should for a while at least, play the sheeeet outta it and enjoy it. She's gorgeous.
A-Step-Towards said:The ric is in its case sleeping, thats my baby. It is used for recording but not gigs. I figured i did decently , I am well versed on fender prices 80s and newer but this was my first step into the 70's. I had a refin 74 body , but it was just the body and I had a 77 neck that was thrashed but other then that I haev never owned 70s era fenders.
Just an FYI I am already scouting out 60's fenders, I wouldnt mind a refin but perfer all else original and the neck finish original on the back at least. I am a college grad in 3 months, have zero debt and some savings built up-add in a soft market and its time for me to get my stable up to 3 or 4 solid keepers. A Ric , P, J and stingray. I already have the ric, and now maybe the P![]()
