Vintage Jazz Bass

Hi guys,
I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with a late 70's jazz bass I'm looking at. The serial is S8852012, which is actually one digit longer than the fender website says it should be. Is it authentic? I've looked it over pretty well and it's aged, the binding has faded nicely on the neck, and it has yellowed a bit. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice.
