Vintage Vantage strat copy neck wood

Does anyone know what wood was used on the necks of the the Vantage strat copies that had the dark neck wood? It almost looks like mahogany at first glance, but is not very similar up close. I can't remember what the name is but I saw some cheap shovel handles that appeared to be the same wood and it got me thinking about it again.

Does anyone know if it is used for bodies too? Can it be?

I believe that I read somewhere that Vantage used Nato wood (aka "Eastern Mahogany") for some of their necks including on some models of strat copies but I have no idea if your model is one of them.
