Awesome thread guys! Its great that vinyl is still going strong, I'm sure I read somewhere that their sales are going up too which is good to hear.

I'm currently running:

Technics SL-B2 Turntable
NAD 3150 Integrated Amplifier
1980's Klipsch Heresy II Loudspeakers

My most prized LP's:

Original British first pressing of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath
Blood on the Tracks - Bob Dylan
Live After Death - Iron Maiden

I have a very beginner level set-up, but I'm happy with it.

Rega P1
Yamaha RX397
Some alright speakers from a different stereo.

The speakers need to be replaced, quickly. They're pretty good at higher volumes but suck at low volumes. Speaking of which, anyone know some good speakers at around $200-300? Compact is pretty much a must.

I do enjoy it quite a bit, even with that set-up I've noticed a difference between vinyl, digital, and CD. I just started back in August too so I don't have too much of a collection but it does keep growing. Just this week I got Converge's Axe to Fall and Songs For Singles from Torche.

Nice front end!

I'm big on used gear. Years ago I got the Mirage 290IS speakers in my office used for a fraction of their new price, and I love them.

That said, some of my favorite online stores http://www.accessories4less.com/ and http://www.audioadvisor.com/ have some pretty fantastic deals on older model and discounted speakers.

I just ordered a Rega P1 turntable and a Cambridge Audio Azur 350A integrated amplifier yesterday, should be in sometime this week. Anything to say about the Rega P1? Its their entry level table, but its been getting good reviews as far as I can tell, how do you like it?

First album I ever heard on Vinyl. Blew my mind.

I don't have a huge collection, just my dad's old stuff from the 80s, as sadly during a move, the majority of his collection of 70s rock was left near a window and melted.......

But there's still some good stuff. Quite a bit of Tom Petty, and some Who, and Zeppelin (even have Immigrant Song/Hey Hey, What Can I Do 45). I've started buying more when I go on trips, looking for good deals and stuff. Found a copy of Chicago Transit Authority for $6 recently and the Vinyl looked unplayed. Found Tres Hombres too, which the whole package was dead mint.

What cart are you running? What tonearm? The factory ones are so-so, but they would be high on my list to replace...

I ran a set of Mirage Omnis for about 3 years before they were stolen from my dorm over a holiday break.

Rega makes a good table...just be ready for vibration issues. You want a good isolation setup from surrounding vibrations.

I would have to go with

1)Supertramp - Crime of the Century(Speakers Corner pressing)

4)Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti(Classic Records pressing)

The factory stock tonearm is the new Rega RB100, and the cartridge is a Ortofon OM5e moving magnet cartridge.

I think I'm going to be sticking with the stock setup for a while, both the Amp, Turntable, and Cambridge Audio Phono Pre-Amp came out to $1000 even.

Any good recommendations for upgrading either the tonearm or cartridge?

How would I do that? I have my vinyl setup on a large square-ish TV stand with my Heresy II speakers on either side, small tube TV in the stand and movies and stuff in the cabinets. My reciever and turntable are going to be sitting side by side on top of the TV stand. Is this not a good idea? I don't have too many other options in my living room...

There are a few options available. Wait until you have it hooked up and playing. Your stand may absorb enough...and your floor may be better than most. If the vibrations are getting through....we can deal with that then.

I just bought myself a Audio Techna at-120. I`m loving it! It has a built in pre-amp so I can just hook it up to my stereo`s AUX port. I`m really happy with my purchase! I`ve got about 8 records so far(it`s really hard not to be overwhelmed with my collection),a mix of brand new LPs and a few from the local flea market.

Agh, my needle finally gave in! There I was, trying to listen to Thunder and Lighting when it finally gave out. Two years of solid use is a pretty decent going rate.

Anyone know where I can get a new cartridge assembly for an ION I-Dock?
